LAA has provided interpreters/translators to the west central Minnesota area since 1994 when it was first approached by individuals, who were providing the area with interpreting/translating services and by the area medical community, which was looking for a central contact for interpreters and translators.

*Minnesota statutes define a qualified interpreter as someone who:
Is readily able to communicate with the hard-of-hearing or non-English speaking person,
Can translate the proceedings for the person,
Can accurately repeat and translate the statements of the person to the officials before whom the proceeding is taking place.
